Breast Augmentation Candidates

A woman's chest can be seen in a beige braBreast augmentation candidates at our Frisco, TX, practice must be knowledgeable about the process, have realistic expectations, and meet certain health criteria before undergoing treatment. To help facilitate a successful procedure, Dr. Ken Smart will conduct a personalized consultation to determine your candidacy and better understand your cosmetic goals. At Frisco Plastic Surgery and MedSpa, breast augmentation can help patients who are unhappy with the appearance of their chest by enhancing the shape and size to achieve a perkier bust line. Breast augmentation is a popular cosmetic procedure we provide for women who have sagging or drooping breasts due to significant weight loss, pregnancy, or prolonged breastfeeding.

Breast Augmentation Can Address Certain Conditions

Breast augmentation is not strictly a cosmetic procedure. Several conditions that breast augmentation can correct include:

  • Underdeveloped breasts (micromastia)
  • Disproportionately small breasts

  • Asymmetrical breasts

  • Sagging breasts
  • Unsatisfactory breast projection

  • The effects of breast cancer treatment
  • Breast changes after pregnancy, breastfeeding, and weight fluctuations

Breast augmentation can correct or repair these conditions while giving you the increased confidence that stems from a proportionate, womanly figure.

Are You a Good Candidate for Breast Augmentation?

Patients who are seeking a perkier bust line, more clothing options, boosted self-confidence, an improved sex life, and an overall better state of mental well-being and quality of life are often interested in breast augmentation. Dr. Smart will perform a detailed examination where he will review your medical history and overall physical health to ensure the procedure can safely meet your cosmetic goals. During this appointment, you can also decide if you would like to add additional cosmetic procedures to the treatment plan, such as a breast lift, tummy tuckliposuction, or a complete mommy makeover.

Augmentation surgery can help patients who are unhappy with the appearance of their breasts by enhancing the shape and size to achieve a perkier bust line.

To help ensure a successful outcome, it is vital that you meet certain health requirements. The best candidates for breast augmentation are those who are in good physical condition, are a healthy weight, and are not planning to have more children. Because smoking can significantly impair your recovery, we also recommend that patients are non-smokers or at least willing to quit smoking for several weeks before and after surgery. Patients must be at least 18 years old for saline implants and 22 years old for silicone implants.

Although breast augmentation can dramatically enhance your figure, it must be stressed that this is a surgical procedure. As with any surgery, there are some risks involved. Breast augmentation typically requires a six- to eight-week recovery period. During your consultation, Dr. Smart will thoroughly outline the risks and benefits of the procedure, the costs involved, and post-surgical treatment guidelines to help you set healthy expectations for a smooth recovery.
