Breast implants come in a wide variety of shapes and sizes and filler material. The most common breast implant that I use is silicone. There are many different breast implants that are available to patients. There are many different styles of breast implants out there.
First off, the most important thing to consider is silicone versus saline. That is what the implant is filled with. A majority of my patients choose silicone because they like the natural feel and softness of the implant.
The next most important decision is what size implant do you want? They range in sizes from as small as 200 cc's, all the way up to 800 cc's. Well, what does that mean? Well, that just means that there's an implant out there for everybody.
And then lastly, it's projection. Almost all of my patients ask what does it mean high projection versus moderate projection or low projection? That just has to do with an implants forward projection in relation to its width. A high profile implant has a little bit more projection, a little less diameter, a moderate profile implant's a little flatter and a little wider. Again, the most common implant chosen is a high profile implant. And again, all of those decisions, we go over in detail at your consultation.
