Is It Right for Me? Microdermabrasion Candidacy
/
If you are in good general health and have mild to moderate skin imperfections you wish to treat, microdermabrasion can help you achieve the nonsurgical rejuvenation you desire. During your consultation, our staff will carefully assess your goals and your health to determine if this is the best treatment for your needs.

What It Can Treat
Microdermabrasion can improve:
- Wrinkles
- Sun-damaged skin
- Acne scars
- Hyperpigmentation
- Melasma
Who Isn't a Candidate
You should not undergo microdermabrasion if you have:
- Active acne
- Uncontrolled diabetes
- Lupus
- Active rosacea
- Fragile capillaries
- Abnormal blood vessels
- Warts
- Open sores
- Psoriasis
- Lupus
If you are prone to cold sores and not currently receiving antiviral therapy, microdermabrasion may not be right for you.
How It Works
The purpose of microdermabrasion is to gently exfoliate (remove the uppermost layer of dead skin) to reveal healthier skin and spur collagen production, resulting in softer skin and the reduction of blemishes. Here's how it works:
- A diamond-tipped handheld device is applied to the treatment area
- As the upper layer of skin is exfoliated, the particles are vacuumed away
- The session is complete in about 30 to 40 minutes
You may need multiple sessions to achieve the desired results. During your consultation, we will recommend a treatment schedule to help you achieve a beautiful, smooth complexion.
The DiamondGlow Facial
DiamondGlow® facial treatment is a microdermabrasion option designed to work with personalized SkinMedica advanced skincare products. With just one treatment, you can experience visibly brighter, healthier, and smoother skin The patented 3X1 technology allows for simultaneous exfoliation, extraction, and infusion resulting in unclogged pores and enhanced skin tone. Your personalized DiamondGlow treatment will include one of the five SkinMedica pro-infusion serums to optimize your individual skin needs: Pore Clarifying, TNS advanced+, HA5, Even&Correct, or VitaminC.
During your consultation for microdermabrasion in Frisco, we can determine if this variation is right for you.
After Your Procedure What to Expect Immediately After Microdermabrasion
For about 24 hours after your procedure, you can expect some sensitivity, redness, and swelling. We recommend going home and resting immediately after treatment at our Frisco plastic surgery office.
- It's best not to engage in any strenuous exercise until about 48 hours after treatment, since sweat might irritate your skin and strain might elevate discomfort.
- For the first 24 hours, avoid touching your skin in the treatment area.
- Don't use acne treatment, and don't apply any products containing retinol, glycolic acid, or benzoyl peroxide for 24-48 hours.
- Avoid sun exposure, tanning beds, and saunas for 48 hours.
Combining Microdermabrasion With Other Nonsurgical Skin Treatments for Optimized Results

Here are some of our other med spa treatments and how they can work together with microdermabrasion to give you the beautiful complexion you want:
