Crow’s feet are the wrinkles that form at the outer edge of the eyes, branching out in a manner similar to that of crow’s feet. These fine lines contribute to an aged appearance, leading many patients to seek facial rejuvenation treatment. At Frisco Plastic Surgery and MedSpa, Dr. Kenneth Smart offers skin treatments to minimize or eliminate fine lines and wrinkles. Dermal fillers, microdermabrasion, chemical peels, laser skin rejuvenation, the OBAGI® Skin Care line, or eyelid surgery can address crow’s feet to create a tighter, more youthful appearance around the eyes. Treating the Muscles or Skin with Injectables

If the muscles around the outside of your eyes cause crow’s feet, you will likely benefit from BOTOX® Cosmetic. This proven cosmetic injectable safely paralyzes muscles so that they cannot create wrinkles. Treatment tends to last for three to four months, but re-treatment can last up to six months. Collagen or dermal filler injections may also reduce the appearance of crow’s feet by plumping the underlying tissue. Dr. Smart may suggest starting with BOTOX® injections, and then treating any remaining wrinkles with a dermal filler, such as Restylane® or Juvéderm™.

Resurfacing the Skin

If crow’s feet remain when you aren’t moving your facial muscles, resurfacing may be a good treatment option. Dr. Smart offers microdermabrasion, as well as laser skin resurfacing. The treatment that’s best for you will be determined at your consultation.

Microdermabrasion

With a single treatment, microdermabrasion removes the outer layers of skin so that new, more youthful-looking skin grows in its place. In addition to treating crow’s feet, microdermabrasion reduces large pores by encouraging collagen and elastin production.

Laser Skin Rejuvenation

By eliminating the top layers of skin, laser resurfacing promotes collagen production and new skin growth.

Facial Plastic Surgery

Blepharoplasty is the clinical name for a surgical procedure that alters the upper or lower eyelids to create tighter, younger looking skin above and below the eyes. A brow lift may also be performed to reduce the appearance of crow’s feet.

Maintain a Youthful Look

After you undergo treatment to reduce crow’s feet, it’s important to take good care of your skin to deter their recurrence. Dr. Smart offers the OBAGI® prescription-strength skin care line. These premium products penetrate deep layers of skin, promoting collagen syntheses for beautiful skin tone. Begin by using a daily moisturizer with SPF of 30 or greater, under your makeup. Stay hydrated and eat a balanced diet to provide your skin with vital nutrients for good health. Beta carotene and vitamins A, C, and E are antioxidants that will deter free radicals that damage skin. Also, don’t smoke, because smoking increases the potential for developing facial lines and wrinkles.

Schedule a Personal Consultation

Sometime during the 30s, perhaps as early as the late 20s, women typically notice crow’s feet beginning to develop at the outside corners of their eyes. Treating skin earlier in life yields the best results, but Dr. Smart offers treatment for crow’s feet for patients of all ages. His recommended treatment for you will depend upon the cause, extent, and type of wrinkles you present. Schedule a personal consultation today, and Dr. Smart will conduct a thorough evaluation to determine the best treatment options for your case.
